Client:
Big Boy restaurants are widely known for their original
double-decker hamburger, great service and of course the beloved ‘Big Boy’
icon. The large franchise first began in 1936 when Bob Wian, of Glendale California,
invented the double-decker hamburger and the Big Boy was born. What was once a small
10-seat diner is now a chain of successful restaurants located in California, Nevada,
Arizona, Hawaii, Florida, North Carolina, Illinois, Michigan and North Dakota. As
the Big Boy franchise continues to grow, new restaurants are in the process of being
constructed. helping with the growth of new restaurants is Remi-Keith Construction,
LLC, a contracting firm specializing in restaurant remodeling. Remi-Keith was formed
in 1999 and began their first project-a new Big Boy restaurant. They have been working
building, remodeling and installing murals in Big Boy restaurants ever since.
Objective:
The goal and standard for all Big Boy restaurants is to create a clean family atmosphere
with attractive and comfortable surroundings. The collages of Big Boy menu items
mixed with the famous ‘Big Boy’ icon, both vintage and new, are intended
to incorporate the history of the chain and signature products in the restaurant,
as well as generate a fun friendly environment for customers to enjoy during their
dining experience.
The process:
Big Boy restaurants were decorated with framed pictures and wallpaper until designers
decided they wanted to create a greater focal point and opted for murals. although
previous to Murals Your Way, they had purchased their murals from another vendor,
Big Boy restaurants made the change to Murals Your Way. The reason behind switching
companies was due to the "substantial cost savings and material specifications.
The first murals were more like contact paper than heavy duty wall covering." Big
Boy restaurants, Remi-Keith construction and Murals Your Way have continued to maintain
a successful business relationship.
the result:
After years of working together, Big Boy restaurants still request the quality murals
of Murals Your Way. Susan Drouillard of Big Boy restaurants says, “We, along
with our franchisees, have been extremely happy with the quality of the materials
used and the images portrayed. owners, as well as customers, are usually very impressed
with the mural when installed. Everyone takes a minute analyzing and discussing
all the different elements. their memories of the nostalgic pictures of what food
items are their favorite.” She goes on to say, “It has been a great
experience working with Murals Your Way. Quick turnaround times, attention to detail
and great service has made our implementation of the custom Big Boy mural extremely
successful.”
