Customer: Megan Johnston

Megan Johnston, a volunteer for the Suite Dreams Project, began her fourth project for a little 8 year old boy named Neill. The Suite Dreams Project, founded six years ago by Kay Ponicall and Kris Appleby is a charity in Rochester, Michigan that raises money to create “dream” bedrooms for seriously ill children. “They’d hoped to minimize the stress of hospitalization and give the children the space they needed to rest and recover. The children chosen are often confined to their bedrooms for much of the time. All have serious or long-term illnesses and a few face struggles with terminal disease, but most have a good chance of recovery. By creating these special rooms, the Suite Dreams Project is not only giving the children a pleasant distraction, they’re really helping with their recovery by making the children feel comfortable and happy at home. The teams talk to the parents and children to find out what would make them the happiest and three to four days later a transformation has taken place. Megan helped create a fantasy bedroom for Neill who has Leukemia. She discovered how much he loved dragons and castles and bright colors, especially yellow and blue. When creating his room, she thought about having a mural painted on the wall as she’s done in the past. But this time she decided to search online for ideas. “I found Murals Your Way and immediately fell in love with the Dragon Kingdom mural and ended up decorating Neill’s entire room around it! It was amazing and had great colors.”

“I ordered the murals, it came in a few days and it was beautiful! We were a little intimidated having never installed a mural before. We read the directions, watched the video, and while installing the mural over the weekend, we called Murals Your Way on Saturday and they helped us. We were so happy and everyone loved it!"
