The perfect finishing touch for Scott Dozer’s home was the Windsor Castle image from Murals Your Way. The authentic photograph of Windsor Castle by Diane Dietrich-Leis was a unique way of creating a faux window, covering an otherwise blank wall. The interesting use of this image creates the illusion of looking outside, along with adding depth and dimension to the space.

Scott has currently lived in his home approximately five years however, it hasn’t always looked like this. It took 3-4 years to transform his home from blue walls, pink curtains and dirt brown carpet into what he calls ‘Modern Day Medieval’. Scott had always been fascinated with castles and medieval times, which prompted his decision for a theme house. The unique castle theme carries throughout the entire home including everything from the kitchen to the bathrooms and bedrooms. The distinctive castle block walls were Scott’s idea and own creation using joint compound and tape to form the grout lines and textured effect. With the gothic furniture, wood ceiling rafters, medieval fixtures and perfect accessories of gargoyles, armor, shields and stained glass windows, this home exudes ‘Modern Day Medieval’.

Previous to the Windsor Castle image, there had been a hand-painted mural of mountains with ruins and pathways running through it. Although it looked great, something was missing. It wasn’t realistic enough and Scott wanted something else. While surfing the internet for ideas, he came across the Murals Your Way website and immediately knew what he wanted to do. After browsing through the gallery of over 5,000 images, there it was - Windsor Castle.

Scott called customer service with a number of questions about sizing and creating the illusion of depth and found the design consultant to be ‘extremely helpful and patient’. “When my mural arrived I was very please. The colors were vibrant and clear and you could tell the quality of the material was made to last.” Although having no experience hanging wallpaper, Scott found the installation to be fairly simple. The outcome turned out excellent and the reactions have been great. “Whenever guests come into my home they are amazed. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to be different and enhance their home’s décor. You will truly stand out from the all the rest.”
