Customer: Daniel Bean, Old Town, ME

Dan Bean built his home 3 years ago, completing the upstairs portion of the house, turning next to the basement. Having come from a long family history of fire fighters, and a fire fighter himself, it was only fitting to travel down the fire pole to the basement area. In addition to the fire pole, there are several touches to the home that would leave no one guessing who lived in the house. At the end of the hallway, furnished with brick overlay and vintage lanterns to give the feeling of an old ally way, is the family’s special memorabilia room. Among the antique fire fighting memorabilia, lies the back end of a 1936 fire engine as a bar area. “This room is very special to our family in many ways. It serves as a remembrance to family members of the fire service and those that have been lost serving their community and paying the ultimate sacrifice,” says Bean.

While searching the web for a wall mural of an old fire house, he came across the Murals Your Way website. Sorting through images he came across Manhattan Lights with the Twin Towers. Knowing he didn’t have to look any further, he ordered it with no hesitations. Bean returned home from the fire house to find the mural on the front porch. “I didn’t even stop to change out of uniform before installation. The mural was packaged very secure and had great easy to follow directions. Each piece went up with ease and excitement. I couldn’t wait to see the towers standing tall on that wall. We have seen so many photos in the last few years of the devastation of September 11th and I wanted nothing more than to reflect the lives lost on that day of chaos. As I finished the last piece of the mural I couldn’t hold back any emotion at all. I stood there in uniform and cried as I looked at the beautiful site of New York City. I couldn’t have been more proud to wear the fire fighters uniform than at that exact moment. I was looking for a nice touch to finish this room…and I found it. Every year we hold a gathering on September 11th with a cookout and fellowship with family, friends and fire fighters to reflect that day.

“Daily I go to this room to reflect, read a book, listen to music or play pool, shoot darts or even some pin ball with my sons and wife. Visitors are amazed with the look of this mural and how it fits with the décor. Many say that this makes the room. I would have to agree. I have a guest room I’m working in now and it will have a mural from Murals Your Way. To the company of Murals Your Way…..Thanks! You will never know how your mural affects my everyday living.”
