From collage makers to cropping tools, it seems like there are hundreds of photo editing apps available for download. Even though they offer filters and color correction, many don’t give you more than the standard editing features that come with a new phone.
There are a few, however, that are actually worth downloading. If you love photo editing, give these gems a chance to shine!
1. Wordfoto: $1.99
Wordfoto’s fun claim is that they’ve taken the old cliché “a picture is worth a thousand words” quite literally – and it works! You can choose the number of words in the image, what words you want to include, and upload your own photo for a custom creation.
2. Juxtaposer: $2.99
Another fun one, Juxtaposer lets you combine multiple images to make a unique photo montage in a snap! This app gets on our list for being a time saver.
3. Colorsplash: $0.99
Colorsplash creates contrast by letting you keep some areas of your photo in color but turning the rest black and white. This is a feature that many people love (it’s so handy) but doesn’t come standard on many phones.
4. Mopico: FREE
This app stands out for its cute overlay stickers and typography. Bonus: you can also layer images and it’s FREE!
5. Retromatic: $1.99
6. Kaleidacam: $1.99
It might not be the top choice for those who get dizzy easily, but Kaleidacam is doing things that no other apps really offer. This app reflects images as many times as you choose to create a kaleidoscope effect. The examples using tile are insane!
7. Percolator: $2.99
A long-time favorite, Percolator makes mosaics with a bubbly twist. If you’re not sure which photography app you’ll like best, try this one; it gets rave reviews!
At a high enough resolution, you can use these apps to create custom works of art and upload them to our site using our Create Your Own option. One of our favorite custom examples (below) is featured this week in our photo contest!
