The Embassy Consular Annex of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas created a space that reflects the colorful and unique culture of The Bahamas as well as its rich history. With the help of a Murals Your Way sales consultant and graphics team, they assembled a collage that displays these qualities.
Stephanie Rahming, the Accounts Officer for the embassy, explained the decisions for specific images.
“The Bahamas, a now independent nation, came from British Colonialism. The mural depicts the pictorial view of our past. It shows our turnover from British Colonialism to becoming a sovereign nation. Our country reliance on selling and eating of fish and fruits and vegetables has expanded into the financial and tourism industries. The Bahamas has 43 years of Independence and we have accomplished quite a bit in such a short time. We, however, never wish to forget our journey as it continues.”
Besides depicting the nation’s history, the murals display what is means to be Bahamian, from the spiritual foundation, flavorful food, blood-thumping music, and national symbols.
“The burst of color is a true reflection the culture, food, and uniqueness of being Bahamian.”
