With Father’s Day right around the corner, we thought some extra love could be given to your man’s favorite space. We rounded up a list of the top five things a man’s man would want:
Five Man Cave Must-Haves
1. Wooden Elements
Naturally rich with grooves and weathering, darkly stained wood can add character and ruggedness to a manspace. Bonus points if you add vintage trophies from his “glory days.”
2. Textures to Stand the Test of Time
Leather: weathered, broken-in and wonderfully soft (plus easy to clean)
Flannel: comfortable and not too fancy, it does the job without fuss
Animal prints and antlers: actual or artificial, bringing the outdoors in is always sure to make your man feel like he can conquer the elements
Whatever it is, make sure it’s tough enough to handle the buffalo sauce, beer, and tailgating parties.
3. A Hand-crafted Super Bar
The cherry on top of the perfect man cave is the mini-bar — whether it houses ingredients for an Arnold Palmer, Texas Mudslide, or just a plain old Shirley Temple, it’s nice to have a beverage always within reach. Why would he ever want to leave?
4. A Huge Couch
It almost goes without saying: the more you sink in when you sit down, the more love it’s seen.
(Recliners are fair game, too.)
5. Creature Comforts
Make sure it surrounds your man with his favorite hobbies: a view of the fairway, his favorite stadium, or labors of love (cars, motorcycles, boats) — whatever his “thing” may be.
Here’s a few of our favorites that are sure please the couch potato in your life.
