HGTV's popular home renovation series Celebrity I.O.U, hosted by Property Brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott, gives celebrities the chance to show their appreciation for important people in their lives. In Season 7, Episode 1, the Property Brothers helped famed actress Anna Faris surprise her best friend of 24 years, Amanda, with a swanky speakeasy-style kitchen. Anna Faris’ best friend, Amanda, loves to entertain, be it big dinner parties, game nights or cozy nights in. She is always spending time in the kitchen. Her initial plans for a kitchen remodel were waylaid by a tough year which saw Amanda battling cancer and two devastating losses - her dog, who was a constant companion through her diagnosis and treatment, and her father shortly thereafter.
Costly medical bills got in the way of fixing her nightmare of a kitchen with cabinet doors falling off the hinges and cramped working space that does not match Amanda’s energy and personality. Enter Anna and the Property Bros to create a spectacular makeover.
BEFORE AND AFTER
The makeover included knocking down walls to open up the space, incorporating an old storage space and adding new cabinetry, countertops and floors. An important focal feature of the kitchen was created by adding a vivid illustration-style mural to the back corner.
